We heard of this incredible place northwest of Salt Lake City – Antelope Island. I can’t really give much history other than it is an island (well, when this area isn’t in a multi-year drought and the water is back up) of the Salt Lake. It is home to over 500 buffalo (or rather Bison because we learned that we call them incorrectly buffalo), 200+ prong horns, big horn sheep, antelope and mule deer. Many trails to hike and of course getting to swim or float actually in the lake.
The causeway bringing you into the island…mainly sagebrush for foliage.
No, this isn’t a statue…BIG!
On top of Buffalo Trail
Ian doing what he does – JUMPING ROCKS!!!! (makes this mother a crazy mess!)
Salt Lake (the white is the salt/mineral leftover, not foam)
Walking around up top of trail
The boys on top of Buffalo Trail (Dave’s glorious hat)
Ian contemplating if he can jump off and survive?
Lunch? (buffalo dung)
One of the many herds that we were able to watch.
Cole and Dave getting into the Salt Lake – Ian was already in splashing around.
The little bump in front is Ian
Heading out to float (I stayed on shore – away from the shrimp)
Pole Position anyone? Driving back to Park City felt VERY much like that game – speed and all!
More driving pics
So Dave bought this hat in MN earlier this year and it is ridiculous, but honestly, his bald spot is saved!
I have pictures of Regina on that very island…ton of fun!
